I was a pretty indignant teenager. In 10th grade, I told my teacher I wanted to do my history fair project on something musical. The theme was “communication” and her response was “don’t.” I did anyway. On The Clash’s London Calling and its political and social impact.
I got a D.
BUT ANYWAY, I am still I happy I did my project on such an influential band and powerhouse record. My mom was even cool enough to let me skip a day of school so I could read England’s Dreaming. (Thanks, Maw!) All that research busted major musical boundaries for me at age 15.10 plays
