TY SEGALL: My Head Explodes
GPOY in song/video form. Mostly song. TBH the video is kinda gaggy, IMO. More acronyms (MA).

HEAVY CREAM: The Jam
How are these kids not from Atlanta? The growl and swagger here drip with ATL sweat, asphalt and greasy garage musk. But, they are from Nashville. Kind of close.
Here’s a cut from the recent release Super Treatment, a Ty Segall joint out on Infinity Cat.
The estrogen-heavy (sorry, the one dude in the band) outfit slam into Brooklyn’s Death by Audio June 18. A Monday night delight! Check for deets via the FB event. I plan to head over there, thoroughly unshowered.
30 playsSUMMER GIRLFRIENDS: Shockwaves
Ho ho ho, it’s summer almost! I don’t know what I’m saying! But I do know I’m way into this cutie all-girls crew from Chicago. Well, it’s a cutie crew because they are all cuties but they are also tough ladies. Their lemonade garage pop is hella spiked with some bottom-shelf whiskey.
The upcoming record Shockwaves covers all the necessary territory: black lipstick on the beach, precocious hook-ups and questionable hygiene. It drops June 5 on Addenda Records. You can pre-order it o’er here. Now the next question, how do I BFF up these gals?
DEAD BEACH: California, Dead Beach
Here’s a rollicking tale of cardio splinters and the west coast. I appreciate the lo-fi commitment of the Bloomington outfit paired with the fierce, bleeding emotion. Although Josh Wold sounds like he maybe has a mouth full of marbles when he sings, it helps add to the completely human pain the song represents. IM(H)O.
Check out the whole dang record o’er yonder. Just two bucks to call it your own.
Apache Dropout: White Out Man, Apache Dropout
I’m a little late on the Apache Dropout bandwagon, but better late than never, right? I feel like at this point I’ve made a few dents in the hay back there and gotten cozy.
Good garage rock will always cast a certain spell on me. This little, fuzzed-out Bristol outfit does just that.
(Thanks to Lars for steering me toward this one.)
