TRANCE FARMERS: Purple Hay
Just wrapped my Dual Forms comp review for February’s VICE. Found these LA-based dudes (or dude? Is it just one? I do not know/care) in the process. I love this cut—heavy with lazy, churning ripples.

PEANUT BUTTER WOLF: Hold Up
Since there is no such thing as a thirteenth month, this year marks the close of the 6-year annual series Wolf Vs. LA. But, not shockingly, Peanut Butter Wolf plans to go out like… very hard-style.
Starting at 12 p.m. EST, you can catch Stones Throw’s founder spinning exclusively his own 12-inch vinyl live from his East Los Angeles home studio. Pretty personal! Boiler Room streams the entire 12-hour set via this here link.
If you live in The City of Angels, you really have to catch the after party featuring 12 DJs spinning 12 12-inches each. TWELLLLLLLLLLLLLALALALALALAVAAAAAAHOTLAVAWATCHOUT. Low End Theory hosts that segment and seriously if you’re in LA and miss it, I put a gypsy curse on you. You’ve been warned. So here is a link to the Facebook event.
Here’s an archive of past Wolf Vs. LA events, all the way from 2006 til now. Dig in, y’all.
Found the original CD of Donuts that Dilla gave me which made me decide to finally start my tumblr. I know everyone else already has one, but better late than never.
This “version” of Donuts is only 28 minutes long and in a different order. When I told Dilla I wanted to release his “beat tape” as an album, he went back and made more songs.
4E.
I wrote what’s essentially an open love letter to Peanut Butter Wolf for VICE. It’s also kind of an account of his pairing with Nite Jewel to pretend to be Kraftwerk.
Aimee Dodds shot some gorgeous photos for it.
Anything Stones Throw is likely to make my mouth water. Now they offer record-disguising stickers. Kinda silly but there is that foxy logo…
HOMEBOY SANDMAN: Look Out
I can relate with the whole sleep deprivation thing, Sandman (or do you think he prefers “Homeboy”? I feel like the latter is less specific/special). Anyway, this Sunday evening I’m thankful for this chill track from one of Stones Throw’s most promising rookies.
